REPORT OF THE OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY COMMITTEE

During 2003-04 Opportunity Knocks completed nearly 300 hours worth of volunteer service to the community via a number of outreach events that included:

• D’Feet Breast Cancer
• Salvation Army Bell Ringing
• Nutcracker Tea
• Dickens on the Strand
• Special People’s Ball
• Ronald McDonald House dinners (2)
• Community Immunity
• Food and Vine Times
• Great Strides CF Walk

These activities allowed the Junior League of Galveston County to reach out and help other service organizations, as well as provide assistance for greater numbers of people in need throughout Galveston County – beyond our regular League projects that are targeted to specific populations. The Junior League of Galveston is becoming well-known as a source for volunteers, as the 2003-04 year was drawing to a close we were already receiving calls from various organizations to secure our volunteer support for the 2004-05 year.
