Volunteers help Galveston County’s other charitable organizations or agencies plan, sponsor and staff their short-term projects. Outreach events are normally one-day-only volunteer opportunities that include everything from manning the registration at a 5K race to running a carnival booth at a charity fundraiser.
This project provides school supplies and Reading is Fundamental book distributions to elementary students from a selected school within Galveston County.
The goal of this program is to raise awareness and provide solutions for the growing health problems associated with childhood obesity by educating children and their parents on such topics such as the benefits of good nutrition, fitness, and healthy meal preparation techniques through fun and interactive workshops.
The Junior League of Galveston County provides up to $10,000, (10)$1,000, annually in grants to local non-profit organizations for the purposes of furthering their service to the community, as well as up to (10) to (20) in $1,000 to $2,000 in scholarships to female students residing in Galveston County who demonstrate a commitment to voluntarism & community service.
This program encourages and teaches girls the importance of volunteering by providing monthly opportunities to help in the community.
