12 Feb Junior League of Galveston County Hosts a Record-Breaking Holiday Ball
Galveston, TX – The Junior League of Galveston County is proud to announce a record-breaking Holiday Ball raising $141,868.50 to help women and children within the county.
With over 200 guests in attendance, the 65th Annual Fire and Ice Holiday Ball honored sisters-in-law, Kelly Johns and Lori Carnes. The Grand Ballroom of the Galveston Island Convention Center was transformed into a little spice and ice provided by Majestic Linens. Guests enjoyed entertainment by The Level One Band with a little kick in their cuisine provided by the convention center and the San Luis Resort.
The money raised at Holiday Ball will enable the Junior League of Galveston County to further our Mission and continue our many community projects here in the community.
Over the past couple of years, the League’s focus has been Helping Children Succeed in School. Our Adopt a School program plays a large role by providing school supplies, books and literacy assistance, as well as weekend meals for food-insecure students.
The Junior League of Galveston County is currently volunteering at Parker Elementary School in Galveston and Hughes Road Elementary in Dickinson.
The League’s other projects include:
- Promoting volunteerism in middle to high school age girls
- Kids in the Kitchen, which is a national initiative encouraging healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle.
- Providing scholarships to deserving high school seniors in Galveston County
- Volunteer and grant assistance to other organizations in the community
- And an ongoing relationship with RMH, UTMB Hospital, and Shriners Hospital.
The JLGC Holiday Ball is the Junior League’s largest and flagship fundraiser.
