Junior League of Galveston, Inc. Announces Karen Flowers as 2013 Holiday Ball Honoree
Galveston County, Texas – On Monday, May 13, 2013, The Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. (JLGC) announced Karen Flowers as its first ever Holiday Ball Honoree.
Flowers, who became a member of JLGC in 1984, was unanimously chosen by a selection committee. The committee sited their reasons for choosing Flowers as many, the main one being that she selflessly lives the mission of the Junior League of Galveston County, an organization committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Flowers is recognized as a selfless volunteer who has served in positions for JLGC from Solicitations and Public Relations Chairman to her favorite placements, Pedi-Angles and Geri-Angels, now referred to as Patient Perks. Flowers has also served on various boards outside of JLGC including, The Ronald McDonald House, American Heart Association Black Tie & Boots Gala, Children’s Advocacy Center, UTMB School of Nursing, Galveston Association of Realtors and was also elected to the Galveston College board of regents. She has also held chair positions with Ball High Project Graduation, O’Connell High School Project Graduation and the Galveston Island Humane Society.
“The most rewarding thing about being in Junior League was seeing goals that were set and fulfilled and helping guide other women into voluntarism along with lifetime friendships made,” said Flowers. “I can always tell when I volunteer with others, which of those volunteers were Junior League trained.”
JLGC invites you to join us at JLGC in NOLA: A “Big Easy” Holiday Honoring Karen Flowers on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at The San Luis Convention Center.
