JLGC to Host Annual Holiday Charity Ball Honoring Sisters
Stephanie Sunseri Doyle and Carolyn Sunseri
Galveston, Texas – On Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 7 in the evening until midnight, the Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. invites guests to its 63rd Annual Holiday Charity Ball, “Rendezvous at the Moulin Rouge,” at the at the Galveston Island Convention Center. This holiday gala is JLGC’s largest fundraiser and is essential in funding the important work league members do to improve the community. Proceeds from this event help support efforts in health, education and community through projects like Adopt-A-School, Junior League College Scholarships, Kids in the Kitchen, Patient Perks, Jr. Junior Leaguers, Community Assistant Fund, Outreach Opportunity, and the up-coming project, Fuel 4 School a project aimed to provide weekend meals to qualifying students to ensure school success.
This year, JLGC is honoring sisters Stephanie Sunseri Doyle and Carolyn Sunseri, leaders and philanthropists who have served the Galveston community for more than 25 years. Both Stephanie and Carolyn are past presidents and Sustaining Members of the Junior League of Galveston County, Inc. Stephanie has served on the Board of Directors for Child Protective Services and the Moore Memorial Library as well as the Texas City ISD Foundation for the Future and City of Texas City Goals Committee. Carolyn currently serves on Galveston City Council and is President Elect of The Grand 1894 Opera House. She has served as a past board member for the Ronald McDonald House and the American Heart Association and Hospice of Galveston County.
“I am so excited to be a part of honoring these two deserving ladies and I hope that the community will join us,” said Stevy Curbow, Holiday Ball Chair. ”This year’s ball, Rendezvous at the Moulin Rouge, is sure to take you on a Parisian Holiday! With a champagne bar with fun infusions, a delectable French dinner and music from Level One Band, it’s sure to be a glamorous night, true to Parisian style!”
This year’s silent auction will feature many exciting items including a coastal fishing trip provided by Sea Wolf Fishing Charters, a wine tasting party from HAAK winery, a deluxe Medspa package from Affinity Laser + Med Spa in Galveston, a night stay at Moody Gardens, a Vegas trip with stay at the Golden Nugget, a dinner party at Gaidos, and a stand-up paddle board. Featured live auction items are trips to Mexico donated by Beau Theriot, owner of the OASIS restaurant on Lake Travis and the Brownstone Gallery in Houston, and a Croatia trip, generously donated by the Duzich Family.
